What is a terry cloth cosmetic bag, exactly?

A terry cloth cosmetic bag is a small storage pouch made from cotton terry - the same soft, looped fabric used in towels and bathrobes. Unlike traditional vinyl or polyester cosmetic bags, terry cloth bags offer a softer, more tactile feel and a noticeably more premium look.

How do you care for one?

Terry cloth bags are surprisingly low-maintenance, but they do need a little more thoughtfulness than synthetic alternatives.

The basics: hand wash with mild soap and cool water, lay flat to dry. Don't bleach, don't dry clean, and don't iron directly on any embroidery. The result is a bag that lasts much longer than its synthetic equivalent - and improves slightly with age.

Are they worth it?

This depends on what you want from a cosmetic bag.

If your only requirement is "a thing to hold my makeup," then a £20 synthetic pouch will technically do the job.
